He 162 Part 2

The Colour Scheme I've decided on is Ihis one, ven though this is for the Slant Wing Version. I like it as most paint jobs for 162s are pretty bland.

Today the Detail Sets turned up and I couldn't be happier. Theres enough detail here to keep and Rivet Counter happy.
The Aires Set has Cockpit, Main Wheel Well, Avionics Bay and Weighted Wheels.
The CMK Set has everything to fully detail the Jet Engine and Compartment.
Now lets get started on this Beauty.

Revell 1/32 He 162 Salamander

This will be quite a large Dio and I intend to Blog the Full Build, Aircraft, Vehicles, Figures and Groundwork.
The idea for the Dio is to have the He 162 hidden in some Woods and the Allied Forces discovering it along with its Support Vehicle's. There's not really that much to say about the Sprues, there typical Revell. The parts are well molded and have recessed panel lines, there's a hint of Flash here and there but nothing major. Here is a run down of whats in the box.

In the next post we'll look at colour schemes as I'd like this to be a special projects Aircraft.

Next Project (maybe).

At the moment I'm trying to build up my Stash but I'm Champing at the Bit to start this one. Picked it up at Flying Legends at the Weekend.
Those nice people from Hannants where at the Show and I couldn't resist. Along with the Kit, it comes with Resin Cockpit and Wheel Wells, plus Two Frets of Photo Etch from Eduard. Would be nice to find a Napier Sabre Engine to go with it. Now comes the Research into MkV Tempests.

Revell 1/32 Westland Lynx HAS3 Conversion.

As ever we start in the Cockpit, I've Bought the Eduard Updates Sets (Interior and Exterior) for the Lynx but will have to make do with the Mk88 Interior as they don't make one for the Royal Navy Version I'm building, but this is Close enough Plus I'll do a little Scratch Building as I go along.
After a couple of days of Bending, Folding and Glueing this Is how we stand. Most of the Photo Etch Is on. I'll leave it for a day or so then start painting. As for the Nose of the Lynx, I'll have to cut it up to fit the Correct Equipment.
Or I may buy the Revell Mk88 and use the Nose out of that as it has the Radome on it and I'll only have to Scratch Build the Sea Owl.

Back to the Coalface.

Its been quite some time since I posted anything on here as I've been quite busy with work and home matters, so apologies for incopoteyway the 109 is together now and I'm experimenting with paint finishes (pics to follow). Also on the go at the moment is the Hobby Boss 1/32 F-84 Thunderjet. The next project will be the Revell 1/32 Westland Lynx HAS.3.
But I'll be updating it to the current Lynx HAS.8 used be the Royal Navy. The biggest difference is to the Nose as we have to incorporate the Sea Owl Thermal Imager and the Chin mounted Radome.
More updates to follow once I get my Pictures in order.

109 Radiator and Housing

Been working on the 109 all day and made some good progress. Wings are together with just PE flaps to add, the tail is also together. Here I'll show how I upgraded the Kit Under Wing Radiator and Housing.
First we have to cut out the molded in (movable surface) to make way for the PE part, I'm supposed  to also sand flat the Grilles.
I'm going to leave the Grilles unsanded as it adds a little depth to the finished look of them, here also is the replacement PE movable surface with the edges folded.
Sorry about using the flash but It's the only way you can see the finished Grille in place, I've also added a piece of stretched sprue as the brace, I was supposed to use wire but I thought this looked better.
And the finished piece, even though I'm using the PE Detail Sets theres still some detail missing that is on the real 109. I'll have a think about how to add it.

A Higher Call (Me 109G-6)

Well after a long search for the Hasegawa Me 109G-6 I finally found one on ebay as all the stockists I tried where out of stock. So now I have it in my sticky little hands let us begin.
I've started with the Aires Resin Cockpit and added a few bits from the Eduard Big-Ed Set.

I've been working on the Cockpit for a couple of days now, I still have a few bits to add and the paint to tidy in areas, the strap on the Machine Gun Cover will be painted Tan rather than the Yellow I have it now. While I've been waiting for things to dry I've started on the wings.
The PE Wing Radiators have been added  and I've also added detail to the Wheel Wells even though the Gear will be up. I want to put on as much detail as possible.
I've also started the Pilot and done a little surgery to alter his pose slightly. I've sanded the goggles off the top of the flying helmet and added a pair from my spares box. I've glued them to his face as in the painting, plus it means I don't have to paint his eyes (Bonus). I'll add pics of him when he's finished.
Thats it for now
